The folks at Forrester Research had a challenge: to wrangle a dense set of data and formulas that calculates an organization's green IT baseline into a user-friendly, compact and portable widget.

A+R Media was up for the challenge. The Green IT Baseline widget packed in input variables for equipment inside and outside the data center, dynamically built pie and bar charts at each step, and calculated totals for CO2 emissions, cost and energy draw. When you reached the end of this four-step process, users could receive the information gleaned from the calculator to via an email that pulled in the charting and data from the widget. Lastly, users had the option to connect with Forrester and send them a copy of their results.
